Prompt #5

First, I will talk about what belief systems/ philosophies did I agree with. 

Next, I will talk about which one's I did not agree with. Finally, what part of the rabbits fur I reside on. Lastly, I will conclude with my thoughts.

The philosophy I agreed with was in the chapter Our Own Time. 

I was very interested when Alberto talked about how Sartre said "material things are 'in itself', but mankind is 'for itself'. Sartre also said man has no such innate 'nature'. Man must create himself. 

Sartre emphasized that man must never disclaim the responsibility of his actions, or making our own choices on the grounds that we 'must' go to work.

The philosophy I disagreed with was when Alberto told Sophie she was a God. I disagree big time because there is only one JUST GOD. Alberto speaking to her like that may have turned into something big in her mind. Sending her the wrong message.

Even though in the book it said "cosmic spirit". It doesn't matter, 

Yes you can lose yourself and at the same time realize your'e something bigger. 

That doesn't mean your'e a God. 

Mystical experience can play your mind and make you believe anything that is absurd.

After all of this, on beliefs/ philosophies I really thought Sartre's words were phenomenal. 

Hellenism the chapter, 

Which I disagreed with really made me angry. As before, there is only one God.

Prompt 4

I will talk about the "red- tinted glasses" experiment. 

Next I will put this in perspective an apply these questions in my own life. 

Finally, I will conclude with my thoughts. 

The "red- tinted glasses" experiment was Sophie's ways of knowing that the world is colorful and brighter. That is why she wore the glasses. It didn't change the way she felt about the world. 

If she simply were to describe what she saw she would probably say "everything is red. 

The world is red" but because she had grown up and learnt that the world actually isn't purely red, she was able to say, through experience "everything I see is red, but in reality, its not!" 

The "red- tinted glasses" applies to my life because that is how life is. Everyone grows up and is taught to live certain ways of life. 

Somethings are universal. Table manners, and regular manners.

Stealing is wrong. Even some are cultural based. 

For we are not able to take off the 'glasses' of reason. 

But Kant as he put it perception and sensation do play a major role in life, 

but only when they're together, will it teach you.

"Red- tinted glasses as Kant called it 'time' and 'space'. 

He emphasized these 'forms' precede every experience. We know before we experience things we perceive them.

Prompt #1

First, I will talk about the quote 

"Who are you". Next, I will discuss about "Where does the world come from". 

I will sum up everything, with my thoughts.

"Who are you". First, my name is Michaela Patrice Armstrong. I'm originally from Miami, Florida, but my family and I moved here in 2008. 

I'm a typical 17 year old, who loves to hang out with family and friends. 

I'm shy around people I don't know, but after a while, when I get to know you I am a good person. Also I love going to church.

Those were just some things about me. I have a little more to add. 

I have a kind-heart who does not like drama. I always ignore it or walk away. I love to eat, but I'm also trying to be more active.

"Where does the world come from?" The world comes from: GOD. 

GOD made everything. 

He is the reason why we are here today. He made us in the likeness if his image. 

He has blessed us just by breathing and living.

"Who are you" was a little tricky because you really never wonder about "who you are". That's where philosophy comes in. 

I thought it was rather enjoyable to talk about "Where does the world come from", because I come from a christian home. 

Every individual is different in their own way and everyone has their own opinions on "where does the world come from".

Prompt #2

Aristotle

First, I will give you my reaction to Aristotle's views on women.Next, I will give my opinion on which of the 

thinkers are admirable about gender. 

Lastly, I will give my reason to the fact that the majority of the 

authorities were mainly men. I will conclude this paper with my thoughts regarding the paragraphs above.

My reaction to Aristotle's views on women is upsetting. I did not like how he thought women were 

incomplete and referring to women as the "soil", being weaker physically, mentally, and allowing the men to 

dominate. Aristotle even thought men had more knowledge than women. He thought women were only good 

for giving birth to children and doing chores, not capable of being successful. However, he did think women should be educated, but not receive the same type of education that men received.

In my opinion, I felt Plato had admirable answers on questions about gender. 

He believed women could govern, and have the same powers of women, knowing the time he lived in. He stated that "a state that does not educate women is like a man who only trains his right arm".

My fact is, were there any women who were philosophers? Alberto Know, a character in the book, informed Sophie the life of the church in the Middle Ages was heavily dominated by men. 

The Middle Ages is the period between the two other epochs. There were two known women thinkers during this time. Hildegard of Binger and Simone de Beauvoir. Hildegard was a nun, as well as a preacher, author, doctor, botanist, and naturalist. Simone de Beauvoir was Sartre's love interest.

Aristotle's views on women were absurd. Plato's admirable answers on gender was astounding. The fact that there weren't many women thinkers back in the Middle Ages is a little depressing. 

Overall this is what philosophy was all about.
